Version 0.6 and Wordpress 2.3

Dream In Infrared

Version 0.6 is done, which adds compatibility with WordPress 2.3’s native tagging. It also adds search results to 404 pages, as well as a list of recent posts. There’s also a bug fix, so that the Table of Contents template only returns direct children, not grandchildren. (I might be the only person with enough levels of subpages for that to be an issue).

I’ve dropped support for Ultimate Tagging Warrior and older versions of WordPress completely.  I don’t think that will affect anyone, but if you’re not running 2.3, don’t bother upgrading.

Beta Release

Magazine Layout

The download is finally available! It’s feature complete, at least for now. It works in modern browsers (by which i mean, browsers that are not IE6). The full feature list is on the about page, if it sounds like the swiss army knife of themes, that’s my goal. Most of the features revolve around the static front page, so the theme is pretty well aimed at wordpress 2.1 and higher. I’d still like it to be compatible with the 2.0 branch, so if you try it and there are problems, I’ll definately try to iron them out.

Tag Icons

Thanks to lullabot’s excellent tutorial on vector icons, I’ve made a tag icon for Dream in Infrared. You can download the PSD and change its colors if you like. otherwise, here’s the icon:

IODIIr Lullacons (.zip)

Just for fun, I also made a couple that match the microformats icons by Wolfgang Bartelme, these icons are CC-by-sa:

tag square add tag tag rss

UPDATE: I added a pencil icon as well. the lullacon pencil seemed more like a flat add-on (like the plus signs). this one follows their guidelines a little better.

Lullacons

With the latest SVN update, you’ll notice that i’ve removed most of the silk icons from famfamfam. I’ve switched to the lullacons from drupal, which i really like. But more importantly, they’re GPL, so i can redistribute them with the theme.  I still have to create a matching tag icon, which I’ll release in the near future.  nonetheless, if you like the silk icons better, i’ve packaged up the ones used by the theme, and you can just overwrite everything in the iodiir/icons/ directory.

Keep in mind, these icons are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 License, so please add a link back to famfamfam in your footer.

I’ve got wordpress fully installed, which makes a great demo for the theme, and makes it nice and easy for me to write the documentation.  Here’s how to set it up:

  1. Creating an account and setting up SVN
  2. Setting up the project website

It’s not easy, but it’s definately worthwhile!

No guarantee that this will match the first release of this theme in any way at all.
