Custom Header Image

Dream in Infrared provides the ability to upload a custom header image, and uses WordPress’ built in cropping app. Since the theme is not a fixed width, the image does not span across the top, as most themes do. The image stays in the upper left corner of the theme, and clicking it will always return users to the front page of your site.

It’s a Logo, not a Header

The image size is 185px tall by 125px wide. Images that are exactly that size will be uploaded as is, and will retain any transparency. If your image is cropped, it will lose any transparency, so you’ll want to make sure the background works with your logo, and the background. If your image is transparent, you will continue to see the background darken when users hover over your logo.

If you want to keep your logo from running into the header text, you’ll want to make sure that the logo itself is no bigger than 125px by 125px. The image will still need to be 185px tall, in order to maintain space for the text at the bottom.

Where did it go?

It’s also worth noting that if your logo contains the name of your site, you may want to use the ‘hide text’ feature of custom header page. Then your logo can be the full 185px tall. when you click the hide text button, your logo will disappear. That’s okay, that’s a minor glitch in the way the custom header page works. When you click Save Changes », your logo will reappear, without the text.
